Music Magazine (Front Page) Final Draft - Task 40

Music Magazine (Front Page) Final Draft - Task 40

Here is my final magazine front page. After going over the feedback I did, I made changes over the final concept and I am happy with how it's turned out. I have changed the colour scheme to flow with the double page spread as I said I would may change because it wouldn't make sense if I kept one page with red and the others with yellow. I think by using yellow also gives it more of an aggressive feel, in which I wanted to show off within my front page also. Red is more of a destructive and powerful colour and it also works with the colour used on the models t-shirt with the 'RUN DNB' design.

I also adjusted the lighting on the main image, as in the previous one the eyes where slightly dark, and you couldn't really see the eyes. I adjusted the slight vignette around the whole design as I didn't want to make the vignette too dark within the design, I wanted to keep it subtle.

I am really happy with the final outcome and it exceeded my expectation within it also. I will create a video after uploading the final contents page about how this journey has made me realise different things and what i've learned. I will also do an evaluation. I hope you like this final design!

'Portside - Distinctions EP' Creation - Individual Post 21

'Portside - Distinctions EP' Cover For DPS - Individual Post 21

To link into the double page spread and the EP cover picture I put up on it, I wanted to make a blog post on it so it links in more with the artist on it. I mention in a blog video that it didn't take too much work to go around creating the EP cover, as I didn't want to make it the main focus as I needed to work on the double page spread at the time.

I wanted to create something which links to the dark and grunginess side of Drum & Bass, and make it mysterious yet gritty. I think the textures I used really compliments the whole aspect of that, and also the aztec-styled font I used in this. Since the artist I created is in Renegade Hardware, I looked up RH's cover releases and they feature a lot of RH's logo on it, so I wanted to make that the vocal point of the EP cover as well. To view the mini-analysis of the cover, go to this part of the previous 'Double page analysis' here.

I hope you like with what I've created. All rights go to Renegade hardware and the logo/branding. Logo has been used for personal use.

Music Magazine Analysis (Double Page Spread) Second Draft - Individual Post 20

Music Magazine Analysis (Double Page Spread) Second Draft - Individual Post 20

This is the video going over what i've done for the redraft for my second double page spread. Once again like the previous analysis videos, I just go over the slight modifications and the things i've done in this second draft and why i've made this modifications. I think it is a step closer toward my final concepts. Once again, like my first draft, this is great for improvements so I can identify on what I should work on to come out with a much better double page spread and overall design. I really can't wait to see how it all comes out as I'm at the closing stages of the final designs for my magazine pages.  If there is any feedback you'd like to provide, then by all means comment!

Music Magazine (Double Page Spread) Second Draft - Task 39

Music Magazine (Double Page Spread) Second Draft - Task 39

Here is my second design of my double page spread. I feel I have made changes in this which has led me to a step into the right direction for my overall design in my double page spread, but also the colour scheme within the pages i've used. Simply because of be using red in this double page, and it may dictate what colour I use in the final of them all.

Once again, I will be creating a video on why I've made these changes and specifically what i've added and how i've done it. I think it's better once again to go over my workflow and give reason to why i've done it. So far, i am happy with the development of this double page spread. It is drawing close to my idea and I want to execute it to the best I can. Feedback is always appreciated!

InDesign Magazine Mock Up (DPS Revamp) - Individual Post 19

InDesign Magazine Mock Up (DPS Revamp) - Individual Post 19

Since I changed my overall design for my Double Page Spread from the original idea / mock up I originally made up and in the previous blog posts I made, I said I would do revamp of the mock up to link into the new Double Page Spread design so it flows a lot more and it links more into the magazine. As stated, I wanted to flow with the MixMag magazine style, as it is a lot more simple and easy to structure, and once again much easier to manage.

From doing this, it's made me realise how my ideas will change and shift along the way in this journey of creating a music magazine. Not all my ideas will final even if the first ones are thought of first. It's good to develop and try out to see what works and what doesn't. So in my case, I found out that by not over complicating the double page spread is a lot better as it is easy for me to create and manage. Can't wait to see how it all comes out.

Actors / Models Used Throughout Progress - Individual Post 18

Actors / Models Used Throughout Progress - Individual Post 18

During my progress throughout my magazine, i've done many things which have impacted my progress. Down from location, the prop's, and especially the models used in my designs for the 3 pages. The models have been really important through out the progression of my whole ideas for the magazine pages themselves, so I needed to use the right models in mind that would effect the magazine greatly for me and the whole concepts i've set out to do. So do get the people involved in the magazine I need to ask people from my school to help me out, preferably my class because it was much easier for me to hand it all, and especially since the people who are featured are in media so we are all doing the same thing so we all are on the same page.

People who where used are:

• Kasey Porter - Front Page / Double Page Spread (Producer 'Portside')
• Matt Dutton - Contents Page (Producer 'Matte')

For them to be models, I needed their consent for them to appear on any of the pages, so we discussed and talked about who did what and when. Without these models, it wouldn't be possible for me to create the pages in the magazine and they would be left blank. I'd like to thank them through this and I have thanked them personally for their contribution toward my magazine creation.

Prop's Used Throughout Progress - Individual Post 17

Prop's Used Throughout Progress - Individual Post 17

RUN DNB (white)
So here is the blog post about some of the props used throughout the progress and creation of my magazine. These are all my own props, more or less my own clothes which makes the magazine creation process a little more personal (I guess?).

Hospital Records Crewneck (Navy)
The prop's are and will be used for my front page, contents page and double page spread in my magazine to link into the magazines genre of Drum & Bass. The RUN DNB t shirts link into the genre of Drum & Bass, because of the acronym on the shirt saying 'DNB' which stands for 'Drum N' Bass'. These shirts where from Chemical Records, an internet store dedicated to music fans in the underground music scene which provided things from vinyls, clothing, equipment, etc. Sadly the company had went into administration way back, and hasn't come back since.

Next up is the Hospital Records Crewneck, which is from the prestigious D&B label, led and owned by D&B legend, Tony Coleman AKA London Elektricity. The label has been in effect since 1996, and is one of the most well known and well respected labels in the scene today, producing well known artists such as High Contast, Netsky, Camo & Krooked, S.P.Y and way more. This links into the genre highly, and so it fits into the magazine and it's structure well too.

To view the video of me showing the prop's, look at the bottom of the post. To go to Hospital Records, click the link here. Sadly, Chemical Records is not in a effect any more so I cannot provide any link to the website.
