Music Magazine (Double Page Spread) Final Draft - Task 42

Music Magazine (Double Page Spread) Final Draft - Task 42

Finally, here is my final design for the double page spread! I didn't do too much changes from the second draft, apart from changing the smaller image into a circle, as I previously said in the video I think it would look much better that way. I also changed the type size of the quote on the right page to a much taller height, as I think it stands out a lot more on the page, and I think the kernings better the space of the letters work well together also. They are not too close, but they are not to far away for them to be jumbled up.

I am really happy with this also in how it come out. It didn't take the longest to do, but I enjoyed doing it none-the-less. I feel like I learned a lot doing a double page spread, especially it being the biggest page to do out of the two pages. If you would like to see the other two designs, go to the links: 'FRONT PAGE' & 'CONTENTS PAGE'

Thank you for viewing the final design, and I will be creating an analysis video of the pages together, and some mock ups of if the magazines where presented in magazines. Thank you for viewing!

Music Magazine (Contents Page) Final Draft - Task 41

Music Magazine (Contents Page) Final Draft - Task 41

Here is the final  design for the contents page. Once again, after looking at some of the things I went over in my second draft, I really wanted to bring out some changes within the final design. In this, I have changed the colour scheme from yellow once again to flow with the front page and double page spread (to follow after this blog post). I also minimised the numbers for the pages numbers, to take in the size if it would be printed, as it would be much bigger on the page.

I also changed the font for '41' as i think it looks a lot more dynamic and looks really funky as well. I changed the colouring on the anchorage text boxes to white, as I think it stands out a lot more and is much easier on the eye, especially for viewing in a viewers perspective.

Once again, I am happy with how this has turned out, and it met with what I wanted to do. I've learned a lot from doing all of this and I will use the skills i've learned from this and push forward! I hope you like my final design.

Music Magazine (Front Page) Final Draft - Task 40

Music Magazine (Front Page) Final Draft - Task 40

Here is my final magazine front page. After going over the feedback I did, I made changes over the final concept and I am happy with how it's turned out. I have changed the colour scheme to flow with the double page spread as I said I would may change because it wouldn't make sense if I kept one page with red and the others with yellow. I think by using yellow also gives it more of an aggressive feel, in which I wanted to show off within my front page also. Red is more of a destructive and powerful colour and it also works with the colour used on the models t-shirt with the 'RUN DNB' design.

I also adjusted the lighting on the main image, as in the previous one the eyes where slightly dark, and you couldn't really see the eyes. I adjusted the slight vignette around the whole design as I didn't want to make the vignette too dark within the design, I wanted to keep it subtle.

I am really happy with the final outcome and it exceeded my expectation within it also. I will create a video after uploading the final contents page about how this journey has made me realise different things and what i've learned. I will also do an evaluation. I hope you like this final design!

'Portside - Distinctions EP' Creation - Individual Post 21

'Portside - Distinctions EP' Cover For DPS - Individual Post 21

To link into the double page spread and the EP cover picture I put up on it, I wanted to make a blog post on it so it links in more with the artist on it. I mention in a blog video that it didn't take too much work to go around creating the EP cover, as I didn't want to make it the main focus as I needed to work on the double page spread at the time.

I wanted to create something which links to the dark and grunginess side of Drum & Bass, and make it mysterious yet gritty. I think the textures I used really compliments the whole aspect of that, and also the aztec-styled font I used in this. Since the artist I created is in Renegade Hardware, I looked up RH's cover releases and they feature a lot of RH's logo on it, so I wanted to make that the vocal point of the EP cover as well. To view the mini-analysis of the cover, go to this part of the previous 'Double page analysis' here.

I hope you like with what I've created. All rights go to Renegade hardware and the logo/branding. Logo has been used for personal use.

Music Magazine Analysis (Double Page Spread) Second Draft - Individual Post 20

Music Magazine Analysis (Double Page Spread) Second Draft - Individual Post 20

This is the video going over what i've done for the redraft for my second double page spread. Once again like the previous analysis videos, I just go over the slight modifications and the things i've done in this second draft and why i've made this modifications. I think it is a step closer toward my final concepts. Once again, like my first draft, this is great for improvements so I can identify on what I should work on to come out with a much better double page spread and overall design. I really can't wait to see how it all comes out as I'm at the closing stages of the final designs for my magazine pages.  If there is any feedback you'd like to provide, then by all means comment!

Music Magazine (Double Page Spread) Second Draft - Task 39

Music Magazine (Double Page Spread) Second Draft - Task 39

Here is my second design of my double page spread. I feel I have made changes in this which has led me to a step into the right direction for my overall design in my double page spread, but also the colour scheme within the pages i've used. Simply because of be using red in this double page, and it may dictate what colour I use in the final of them all.

Once again, I will be creating a video on why I've made these changes and specifically what i've added and how i've done it. I think it's better once again to go over my workflow and give reason to why i've done it. So far, i am happy with the development of this double page spread. It is drawing close to my idea and I want to execute it to the best I can. Feedback is always appreciated!

InDesign Magazine Mock Up (DPS Revamp) - Individual Post 19

InDesign Magazine Mock Up (DPS Revamp) - Individual Post 19

Since I changed my overall design for my Double Page Spread from the original idea / mock up I originally made up and in the previous blog posts I made, I said I would do revamp of the mock up to link into the new Double Page Spread design so it flows a lot more and it links more into the magazine. As stated, I wanted to flow with the MixMag magazine style, as it is a lot more simple and easy to structure, and once again much easier to manage.

From doing this, it's made me realise how my ideas will change and shift along the way in this journey of creating a music magazine. Not all my ideas will final even if the first ones are thought of first. It's good to develop and try out to see what works and what doesn't. So in my case, I found out that by not over complicating the double page spread is a lot better as it is easy for me to create and manage. Can't wait to see how it all comes out.
